Each round has a typical look and feel to it. You need to fit in to get your round done well.
You want to fit in the bucket. If you do!
- Value yourself too low and the investors are getting too good of a deal
- Value yourself too high and investors won't invest, and they won't tell you why, and your raise will take forever or not happen
- Dilute by more than 10-20% per round and you will end up owning too little of your company in later rounds
- Raise too much and you can dilute too much as per prior point.
- Raise too little and you can run out of funds too quickly.
- Don't forget to setup your ESOP!
- Model out your cap table too - templates here!!
